Calvin Hammock was born December 4, 1925 in Gholson, Mississippi to Claudie and Steve Hammock. Calvin relocated at a early age to Chicago. He was a brother of fourteen siblings, the youngest of eight boys and six girls and the youngest boy.
Calvin was a hard working young man. At a very young age he worked in the fields on a farm for little compensation. Calvin had a big heart for family. He was always willing to give a helping hand at anything he could. At age nineteen Calvin joined the United States Navy, in which he traveled the world, which he truly loved. Calvin was eventually stationed in San Diego, CA. There he met his lovely to be wife, Annie Helen Davis. Under that union they flowered seven wonderful children. While living life Calvin open a Bar-BQ shop in downtown San Diego. He became a Eagle Scout Master showing the youth how to make campfires, play baseball, cook, and yard work.
During his free time he traveled and Loved to play dominoes and gamble. He enjoyed the racetrack, win or lose. Calvin was a devoted father and would do anything for ALL...
Calvin departed his earthly home on March 28, 2017.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son Tommy, all his siblings, and great-grandson Joshua Lewis.
He leaves behind to treasure his memories his lovely wife Annie of sixty years; two sisters; son Mike (Donna) of Sacramento, CA; five daughters Dawn (J.T) of Vallejo, CA, Lavonne (Aaron) of San Diego, CA, Alfreda, Orlinda (Travis) of San Diego, CA, and his youngest baby girl Sharon Hammock of San Diego, CA. Also, fourteen grandkids; Runnels (Bo) Veronica, Michael, Shoni, Aaronika, Nakia, Travina, Shazella, Alana, Jaron, Brianna, Toni, Travis, and Rachel; twenty-five great-grandkids, and a host of family and friends who will cherish these everlasting memories of this awesome man.
