Calvin Nixon was born on June 6, 1926. He was raised in Petersburg, VA. At the age of sixteen in 1943 he enlisted in the United States Naval Service, which he fought on the front line in WWII. He was widely appreciated, accommodated, and awarded for his merit and valor. He was honorably discharged after thirty years of Service.
After The Navy he attended Mesa College in San Diego, where he completed his high school equivalence (GED).
After retiring from the military he started working right away and was employed with ADT Security Service of San Diego, for over twenty years, and with GMI security of San Diego until he was forced, because of his age, into retirement at the age of eighty-five. While he was working with GMI he was stationed at White Sands of La Jolla where he met his beloved second wife.
On Saturday, January 13, 2018 Calvin was called home.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Eva Nixon, of Key West, FL., and second wife Rose Nixon, of Texas.
Calvin is survived by his niece Carmella Peek of Harrisburg, PA; great-nephew Darren Perkins; and great- niece Alysse Peek of San Diego, CA; his great-great nephew Darren Perkins Jr.; and god-son Wayne Allison of Columbus, OH..
