Our mom, Irene Woodall was born Lockhart, Texas on July 24, 1926 to the parents of Minnie Pitts and Napoleon, Sr.
Irene worked for the San Diego City School System for over twenty years. Her true blessing was the ability teach and work with children with special needs. She not only had the love of the children, but the love of the parents.
When she retired for the school system, she took a part-time position as a “helper”; a person that will sit with people that are unable to get around on their own. Mom used to tell me that she was sitting with the elderly; keep-in-mind, that the majority of the people were younger than her. She had a special gift in making people that she did, not know feel comfortable, that infectious smile.
Irene leaves to cherish her memories her brothers, Albert Pitts, Napoleon Pitts, and Willie Ray Pitts and his wife Rita Pitts; daughter Susan Dawkins; and son Claude Cherry; grandsons Da’Ron Tucker (wife Lucretia Tucker) and Claude De’Andre Cherry (wife Denise Cherry); great-grandchildren Ayran Tucker, Aliesha Tucker, Mallory Cherry, and four great-great-grandchildren.
