Johnnie B. Hill was born on February 6, 1944 in Panama City, FL to parents, John Henry and Quincy Miller. She graduated from Southside High School, Newark, NJ. Johnnie worked as a Phlebotomist at North Jersey Community Center in Newark NJ and Kaiser Permanente in Redwood City, CA. Johnnie was married to Tom Patterson and from this Union they were blessed with son Tom Patterson, Jr. and daughter Sharanda Patterson who blessed her with her granddaughter Mahaganee Patterson.
Johnnie known as “Dot” to family and friends lived in Newark, NJ where she was one of the top phlebotomist in the area. She was very passionate about her job and she was known for “getting the blood” from patients under any and all circumstances. She had a wonderful way of calming the patients while drawing the blood. Dot moved to California in 2000 and continued her career as a phlebotomist until she retired. Dot loved to dress very fashionably and had a passion for shopping. She had a gift for cooking. Her specialty was soul food. She loved to travel and attended many concerts. She was very passionate about R&B old school music from the 60’s and 70’s. Dot held her position with pride as the oldest of eleven siblings and was always an en- couragement to them, as well as all her nieces and nephews.
Johnnie died August 17, 2017 at the age of seventy-three.
She was preceded in death by her father John Henry; son Tom Patterson, Jr.; daughter Sharanda Patterson; brothers Eric Cooper and Gregory Cooper; sisters Annette Peeples and Denise Hill; nephew Anthony Carr; aunt Mae Miller; and uncle Lloyd Miller.
Johnnie is survived by her mother Quincy Cooper; granddaughter Mahaganee Patterson; brother Todd Cooper; sisters Joyce Channey, Debra Neblett, Cynthia McMillion, Spring Hill, and Bridgette Cooper; nephews Shawn Scott, Troy Scott, Maurice Cooper, Sade Cooper, Khalil Cooper, Jamaal Cooper; nieces Shakira Ginger, Tanya Carr, Deneen Hill, Kindness Pigford, Mya Haller, Deonna Cooper, India McMillion, Asia McMillion, and a host of great, and great-great nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.
