Bernadette Marie Castillo was born in San Diego, California to Sandra Carrasco (Matos) on September 5,1971. She graduated from Lincoln Preparatory High School as a teen mom, with high honors, in 1988. She was currently on the Dean’s List, working towards her Bachelor degree in Counseling with an emphasis in Addiction, Chemical Dependency, and Substance Abuse from Grand Canyon University. She worked as a Senior Account Specialist at Synergy Subscriptions for eight years. Bernadette was a recent graduate of MHS South County Center for Change, Nov. 2017. She enjoyed loving the Lord, reading (especially her Bible), singing, dancing, boxing, hiking, psychology, and most of all she loved cooking and spending time with her family. Bernadette wanted nothing more in the world than to see her son and hold him in her arms once again.
Her Mother, Sandra Marie Matos, preceded Bernadette in death.
She is survived by her Son, Keith M. Hill, Jr. (Johanna); two Grandsons Josiah & Damian Hill; two Sisters Earlandra Martin & Venus Matos; two Nieces Obsesion Bernadette Hearn (Kenneth) & Dialasia Williamson; two Nephews Octavian Gonzalez & Terence Nowlin, Jr.; one great-Niece Obsesion Mayfield & three great-Nephews Kenneth Mayfield, III, Jay’Ceon Graham & Kevion Murphy all from San Diego, California, as well as a host of cousins, aunts, uncles, and extended-relatives throughout the United States who loved her to the moon and beyond the stars.
Bernadette had so many special qualities that made her God’s gift to us. She loved ministering and sharing her testimony in hopes of helping others, but most of all she loved her son and her family. One thing that we will always cherish and remember is her cooking and that radiant smile. That girl could burn! Her sense of humor and her amazingly, perfect smile will forever be imprinted our hearts. She could light up an already lit room with those perfect teeth. See you when we get there…
