John Henry Pounds, Jr. was born on January 16, 1948 in San Francisco, CA. John moved to San Diego, CA at an early age.
John received his formal education in San Diego. He graduated from Samuel Morse High School in 1966. Shortly after graduation, John entered the Armed Forces and served as a Master Sergeant in the United States Air Force. He received an Honorable Discharge.
John worked at American Airlines for several years until his health began to fail.
John received Christ at an early age at Crusader C.O.G.I.C. under the leadership of Elder Thomas Hawkins.
In 1964, his father, John Henry Pounds Sr., founded the House of David C.O.G.I.C. John served faithfully in many capacities of the ministry under his father's leadership. He skillfully played the guitar; sang in the choir; taught Sunday School and Y.P.W.W. He also played a very active role in the Youth Department.
John loved God with all his heart. He loved to laugh and have a good time, but when it came to the things of the Lord, he did not play. He commanded presence wherever he went and was always a very sharp dresser from head to toe.
John was so excited when he became an Ordained Elder. He was known as a "Soul Winner," always bringing souls into the House of the Lord.
After being apart for several years, John reunited with his childhood sweetheart. On February 7, 2004 he married the true love of his life, his soul mate, Geraldine Hollins, affectionately known as "Baby". In 2015, John united with El Shaddai Christian Ministries under the leadership of Pastor Jeff Anderson.
John had a very gentle and quiet spirit. Several years ago John became very ill. You would never know when he was in pain, because he always had a smile on his face and would say, "God Is Able." After fighting a long-suffering battle, God decided it was time for His soldier to come home. On March 14, 2018, Elder John Henry Pounds Jr. slipped quietly into the bosom of Abraham. He was preceded in death by his father, John Henry Pounds, Sr. and his stepmother, Syrdella Mae Pounds.
Those left to cherish his memories are: his devoted wife, Geraldine Pounds; one son, Jonathan Pounds of Minnesota; one sister, Debra Pounds-Hart (Joel) of San Diego, CA; three step-children, Kenneth Singleton (Cynthia), and Carlton Singleton (Raushanah) of Las Vegas, Torrance Singleton (Maria) of Temecula, CA; two grandchildren, Devon and Alenah Singleton of Las Vegas, NV.; three sister-in laws, Mae Mccloud, Thelma Mitchell (Greg) and Doris Hollins of San Diego, CA; two brother-in laws, Larry Hollins (Debra) of San Diego, CA and Michael Singleton (Flo) of Detroit, MI.
