Oliver Harold Arbuthnot, Sr. was born on May 26, 1935. He was born at Homer G. Phillips hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. After graduating from high school, Oliver relocated to California and his first job was as a cook for Denny’s restaurant. Soon after that, he was blessed to get a job at University Ford in Mission Valley, California. He stayed there and retired after thirty years.
Oliver was a faithful member at Gospel Center, Church of God in Christ. This is where he met and married Betty Ruth Jackson and raised a family. “Elder Dad,” as he was affectionately called, eventually went on to expand his ministry at Mount Olive Church of God in Christ and was a faithful member there. Later, he relocated his family from San Diego to Temecula, California, and began to attend Holy Tabernacle Church of the Living God. He was also a faithful member of the Effectual Fervent Prayer Warriors Group where he served as the group’s chaplain and was truly known as a prayer warrior. Everyone loved him on the prayer line and people from other cities he never met called him their spiritual father. The last church he attended and made his home was Adonai Ministries Christian Center where he served faithfully until the end alongside his son who was the pastor and founder. Oliver was a true ambassador for Christ who represented the kingdom and his Father to the highest.
Anyone who met Oliver knew that he truly loved his family beyond measure and was concerned with keeping them together. He was a father figure to so many people and continued to pray for his family, friends, and his community.
