Sheila Ann Ellis was born July 5, 1957 to parents Lola Williams Ellis and Hillard Ellis, Sr. Sheila was raised in Philadelphia, PA along with her three siblings with the help of their grandmother, Mamie Williams, who they affectionately called “Granny.”
Sheila, along with her first husband, Irvin Jerry, Sr., relocated to San Diego in the late 70’s where they started a family. In 1977 they welcomed their son, Irvin Jerry, Jr. into the world and shortly followed by their daughter, Sheila Lyn Jerry, in 1979. Sheila was a dedicated mother and caretaker. She loved her children fiercely and unconditionally. Sheila loved to laugh and always found a way to bring joy to every occasion. Sheila had the ability to light up a room with her infectious personality. Known as a prayer warrior, she always kept those she loved and cared for lifted up in prayer.
Sheila’s love and dedication to children permeated her whole life. Children loved Sheila and she loved them even more. Sheila spent her entire career in early childhood education. She began as a preschool teacher and went on to start a day care out of her home. Sheila transitioned to early childhood education administration when she helped establish and run Little Lamb Land Christian Preschool. She then went on to help establish The Rock Academy Preschool where she served as its Director. Sheila also coordinated the child care ministry at More Than Conquerors Christian Center (MTC) for decades. Sheila was fully immersed in ministry while at MTC serving in every aspect of the ministry. A gifted teacher, she was able to speak to the hearts of young and old alike, and left a lasting impact on those she came in contact with. She helped mold the lives and minds of thousands of children throughout her career in California and Arizona.
Sheila Ann Ellis, along with her husband Bobby Earl, were called home on August 30, 2018 in Bailey, NC.
Sheila was preceded in death by her mother Lola Ellis; father Hillard Ellis, Sr; brother Hillard “Skeeter” Ellis, Jr; and brother Kenneth Ellis.
Sheila is survived by her sister Kim E. Davis,; daughter Sheila Lyn Jerry; son Irvin Jerry, Jr; daughter-in-law Kris Jerry; and grandson Isiah Jerry; along with a host of family and friends who will miss her laughter and smile.
