William Milas Watson

January 12, 1935 ~ June 22, 2018 (age 83)

William Watson, affectionately known as “Sonny” went peacefully to be with the Lord on Friday, June 22, 2018.

William was born in Brinkley Arkansas on January 12, 1935. He was one of eleven children born to Arrie and Jessie Watson. William attended Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Wheatly, Arkansas and Marion Anderson High School. After graduation he moved to San Diego, California, where he met and married Ollye Guess in 1965.  William began to work for the City of San Diego as a sanitation worker where he retired after forty-one years of service without using a single sick day. He was a prime example of what a hard worker really was.

William loved taking Sunday rides in his Red 1968 Cadillac Eldorado and sitting at the airport watching planes take-off and land. He was a perfectionist when it came to his lawn, he used regular scissors to trim his lawn every week. William was an avid recycler. He loved his grand and great-great-grandchildren and spoiled them every chance he got.

William was preceded in death by both parents Arrie and Jessie Watson; (brothers) Jessie Lee Watson, Robert Watson Sr. and John Watson; (sisters) Esther Mae Watson-Applewhite, Estella Watson-Osler, Robella Watson-Swanigan, and LaVerene Watson-Williams.

William leaves to cherish his memory his wife of fifty-three years Ollye Watson; one daughter Olivetta Jones of San Diego; nine grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and ten great-great-grandchildren. William also leaves two brothers Esau Watson, Sr. of Wheatly Arkansas, J.D. Watson of Miami, Florida; and sister Mrs. Willie Watson-Harris of Little Rock, Arkansas.
