Mary Harrison

January 19, 1932 - March 26, 2021

The separation for family, friends and all earthly possessions came for my mother Mary Frances Harrison on Friday, March 26, 2021. She was born to Mr. and Mrs. Charles Bennett on January 19, 1932 in Nashville, Tennessee. She was united in marriage to James Willie Harrison, Sr. (Deceased); and to this union there were two children James Willie Harrison, Jr., "Sweetpea" (Deceased) and John Phillips, Jr.

Mary was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church where she worked diligently to help other nurses and ushers under the leadership of Pastor Percy Clark (Deceased). She remained a member until she moved to San Diego, California in February 2011. She was employed by the United States Tobacco Company for more than twenty years as a Machine Operator and Production Inspector until her retirement.

Mary Frances Harrison was affectionately known as "Aunt Toolum" by many family members and friends. The first thing she wanted to do upon arriving in San Diego was to go fishing. She loved fishing, growing up in Nashville, Tennessee she would always make sandwiches for her family and head to her favorite fishing spot in Nashville Old Hickory Lake and Spencer Creek. She always made sure that everyone in her company had a good time. Especially when family members and friends would come to the house every weekend to play card, board games, badminton and anything else she would think of to have fun. She always made everyone around her feel special.

Mary leaves to cherish her memories a sister in Louisville, Kentucky, a loving and very devoted son, John Phillips, Jr., whom she lived with since 2011 along with daughter-in-law Rhonda Hunt-Phillips; grandchildren Lashauna Gamble and John "PJ' Phillips; nieces Anita "Earline" Blair and Geraldine Phillips; nephew Martavous "J.R." Phillips; great-grandchildren Trevel Turner and Dametria Phillips; great-great-grandchildren Tedanisha Thompson, A'Miyah an A'Kiyah Phillips and a host of family and friends who loved and will miss her dearly.
